The Subaru WRX STI is built for the track and for the extreme all-weather conditions. Watch these 2 must-see videos of WRX STI, in this original story, published by Denis Flierl at TorqueNews.com.
Mondays can be tough when you have to return to work, so here are two Subaru WRX STI videos that will get your week off to a good start. If you don’t think Subarus are tough watch these two must-see videos below. These Subaru WRX STI drivers know what their cars can do and they aren’t afraid to push the envelope to the extreme limits that these performance cars can handle.
A nice afternoon tourist drive
The first video shows a Subaru WRX on the Nurburgring Nordschleife during a “Touristenfahrten” which is translated tourist drive in English. They allow private drivers to take their cars out on the Nordschleife to pilate their own cars through the “Green Hell.” This one driver found out just how difficult the 20.832 km legendary tarmac can be, especially when you take a corner way too fast.
This WRX STI is traveling at a high speed and looses control and begins to slide of the track. The driver enters back onto the track going backwards. What happens next is either remarkable driving skills or this WRX STI driver is extremely lucky. He spins the car around and recovers from what could have been a disastrous mishap. The WRX STI makes an incredible recovery showing just how the rally-bred suspension on these cars really works with the right driving skills.
One Tough Mudder
The next video shows the incredible Subaru Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system at its best. This Subaru Impreza WRX STI attempts its own mud run in order to become the top Auto Tough Mudder. The WRX STI takes on more mud than any car should be able to handle and is pushing the thick goo with his front bumper. He manages to get through the muck as the fans cheer him on. The WRX STI exits the mud pit and wins the contest.

Just released: Watch 2015 Subaru WRX STI IOM full record lap [video] Mark Higgins narrates the full 22:23 minutes. Originally reprinted from TorqueNews.com and written by Denis Flierl.
Subaru just released a video of the full lap of the 2015 Subaru WRX STI Isle of Man record run. Mark Higgins who drove the new-generation WRX STI narrated the 22:23 minute video as dash cam records the record run earlier this month. The video is at full-speed and it shows just how scary fast he went to brake his own record from 2011.
Higgins drove a U.S. spec 2015 Subaru WRX STI broke his lap record of the fabled 37-mile course with an average lap speed of 117.510 and a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds. In Higgins’ record lap, the Manx native said several errors caused him to lose time and he was determined to get more out of new-generation STI.
Higgins tries again after he broke the record
After he set the record, Higgins said, “I think there is definitely time that we left on the course. I lost time on the second part of the track, overshooting my braking point at Sign Post corner. I actually hand-braked the turn in the end, so I feel we can definitely do better.”
Higgins confident in STI’s new chassis
Higgins was able to get even more out of the new 2015 STI. He said after the last run, “This was a great run when everything came together and I was able to do a much cleaner lap as I am still learning where I can go flat in this car. I am really happy to beat the lap records set by John McGuiness in the Zero Bikes and the sidecar lap record as John was riding me about that! I can’t say enough about the new WRX STI and how much abuse it has taken as we have really ridden it hard over this course for three very fast runs and this is definitely not an easy course. The chassis on this new car is just night and day.”
