Hey guys so I’m new to the Subaru community and have already been blessed in by.. you guessed it rod knock 🙃
After draining my oil I discovered a decent amount of foil in my oil (pictured below) and determined it to be shavings from a rod bearing . Now the decisions I have to make are rebuild the entire motor or just find a swap, I feel like a rebuild would probably be cheaper seeing as how I’m doin this all by myself with 0 shop help, opposed to getting a crate motor which would run me close to 7k for one with low mileage. My question to you guys is this, should I rebuild and if I do where should I got for parts along with should I check to see if my heads are good while the block is apart and being rebuilt, or should I just find a decent swap and drop the bread. Either way I gotta get it back running and running strong, thanks in advance for your help.
