Just enhanced the related repair history survey so that it can (optionally) be used as a personal car maintenance record.

As always, more participants would be helpful. Updated Car Reliability Survey results in May, with a preview for participants soon.

We've updated results for the Car Reliability Survey again to include owner experiences through March 31, 2010. Results for the Impreza and WRX, in terms of repair trips per 100 car per year:

2009: 30, better than average

2008: 47, about average

A big thank you, once again, to this forum and everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and two new stats, for the odds of having no repairs and of getting a lemon.

I had an 08 that I sold.

I didn't have any issues minus the brakes clicking.

Also, I had signed up with ya guys with my 08 CRV. That car had brake issues, never resolved. Sold the car. Hope that helps some.

We'll have further updates in August and November, and starting this month will provide separate stats for the WRX/STI and non-turbo Impreza. (A few members requested this.) This will split the sample, so additional participants are needed to help make this work.

Hey guys and gals! If anyone has had issues with the 2008+ WRX clutch master cylinder and clutch pedals due to a break in factory firewall, please contact me and more importantly Greg Coleman at www.gregcolemanlaw.com. We are moving forward with a class action suit against Subaru and hopefully we are going to force a recall of this issue to have it fixed on all cars affected. Thanks!

I know this is way old thread, but to help with preventing reverse grinding due lack of synchros I'd suggest placing in 1st briefly then place into reverse. From a stop going directly to reverse shouldn't be an issue.

Reverse will always grind when moving. It is unsynchronized and it is a straight cut idler gear being meshed with straight gears on input and counter gears. Just about any car will do it. If it doesn't, your shit is broke.
