Can I use the Ipod interface kit?
Our decks are the same as your premium decks I believe.

Well I ordered a whole heap of stuff off subarugenuineparts.com, and the ipod interface and sub were some it.

I'll let everyone know what the story is with fitment, that is if it is possible at all. If not I will be selling it... lol (sort of)

AFTER purchase ofcourse I found a website that advertised how to install the ipod interface kit.. Found at:

http://content.subaru.com/sub/media/pdf/ipod/InstallationManual.pdf

The thing though, is 2 button look different on my radio.. I wonder if this makes a difference.

Although a positive note is that my head unit does say something about folders on the buttons.

I'l have to wait and see. Wish me luck.

I also got my Springs, strut brace and rear sway bars to sort out some handling.

Very xcited.

Hey Old Guy,

I don't know because SGP cancelled my order, and therefore I never got the iPod kit. (as per my forum posting whinge)

Although I did end up ordering some stuff of this lovely guy in the US at Mastria, short shift and Momo gear knob on their way! With a battery tie down and filler cap (spt).

As for the compatibility of iPod Kit, I got an email replied back from Subaru Australia... A copy I have included for you...

"Thankyou for your email to Feedback at Subaru.

With regards to your enquiry, please be advised that each MY08 WRX and
WRX STI Impreza comes standard with aux jack input, which allows
connection of an iPod or other mobile music device to your stereo
through a jack to jack cable.

If your vehicle is fitted with Subaru AVN satnav, this unit also
comprises a RCA AUX input, which allows connection through a jack to RCA
cable.

A fully integrated iPod stereo connection is unfortunately, unavailable
in Australia. The component you have mentioned has been developed as a
joint venture between Subaru of America and Apple inc. This component is
incompatible with Australian spec Subaru vehicles.

At the present time we are experiencing difficulties with our STI
website updates, however please find attached a current list of STI
upgrade parts available.

I hope this information is helpful to you."

Can I be honest though.. I am not sure if i take their word for it. The only real way to tell is when I can be bothered, going to my local audio shop and seeing if we have the plug ability in the back of our head units..

The reason I say this is because, generally, customer service people are about the image of their particular brand, they don't usually know first hand.

Thanks for reply.

I've come across some Subaru part numbers for Ipod interface kits:
H621SFG500 for non Nav Cars , H621SSC200 for Nav Cars

Google them and there is USA info, bothing for Google UK.

This morning am trying to fins out (a) whether I van buy them in UK and (b) wherher they ARE compatible with my UK car - head unit is 6 CD unit with a part number CZ341R6

I'll post back if a get a firm answer...

Cheers
