Anyone have experience with PIAAs? I've always used Sylvania Silverstars in the past to positive affect, but they don't seem be releasing a H11 bulb anytime soon.

PIAA and Hella = awesome stuff. also try Nokya

AVOID EBAY STUFF, it's all cheap imitation crap painted blue and yellow and the paint melts and makes the bulb burn out. waste of money.

here my list of bulb:

PIAA 4100k Intense White 9005 (High Beam)
Nokya 2500k Hyper Yellow 9006 (Fog Light)
Silverstar 1157A (Front Turn Signal)
PIAA Mirror Orange 7440 (Rear Turn Signal)
PIAA Xtreme White 7440 (Backup Lights)
PIAA Super White LED Wedge Bulb 168 (Licence Plate)

didnt change the low beam yet cause im thinking about HID soon, but i do want PIAA HID bulb, just need to find some good ballast and harness

So you are saying that the PIAA stuff on ebay tends to be counterfeit?

one time I bought "nokya" 2500k H3 fog bulbs...

received some lame "IMPORT CUSTOMZ" H3 bulbs -- they had fingerprints on them and were just painted with yellow paint. it was lame. $60 thrown away.

Have any of you guys ever tried the heavy duty headlight wiring harnesses? There's a 15 page thread on NASIOC about them that has me interested. I'm wondering if that may be the way to go rather than investing in HID. The stock headlights are the worst I've ever seen so I'm itching to do something.

that guy also says HID upgrade kits are "THE DEVIL" regardless of whether or not they have a projector assembly

agreed our stock headlights have no power or range what so ever.... oh well i guess no car is perfect..
I changed the stock H11 bulbs out and replaced them with the Osram H9, just removed the extra tab in the socket and it fits perfect. I haven't seen it in the fog yet but I now get as much range and brightness as my girl friends Altima with the HIDs. Cheap alternative to HID.

Yah I don't necessarily agree with all of his opinions on HID retros although I do think there are a lot of tards out there that are blinding people with their shitty HID kits. I think his point is that not all projectors are created equal, and since he consults for the NHTSA he tends to take a more conservative slant. He may be over the top when it comes to HID retros but you can't argue with his knowledge of halogen upgrades.

I just installed Nokya Hyper Yellow 2500K 9005/HB3 bulbs for the daytime running lights/high-beams and they look great. I bought them off eBay and they are really nice.

I like PIAA bulbs a lot as far as lighting performance, but in my experience I've found that they tend to burn out far too soon.

Won't we get check engline lights if we replace factory bulbs with low-energy LED bulbs? Or whatever warning method the car has for a bulb that needs replacement?

yeah I've never heard of subaru having something that tells you your bulbs are dying... lol

you may be thinking of a load equalizer so LEDs work in normal turn signal sockets and don't blink super-fast or not at all. you can get those at http://www.autolumination.com
