I'm doing the timing belt and various seals etc on a 98 WRX EJ20.

I was undoing the crank bolt again after lining the timing up and was using a ratchet on the upper right (facing the motor) intake cam to hold it all in place. I heard a clicking from the cam and I think it rotated a bit, or the the belt slipped as the timing was out now on that cam.

I then rotated the crank twice and then a little further carefully but felt resistance so immediately stopped. All timing marks are way out, crank is not lined up.

Do I just release the belt, then turn the crank to the timing position and then re adjust the cams?
