Under The Hood "Bling"

After i bolt on a few more performance mods and get an AccessPort, i was considering making things under the hood aesthetically pleasing. For the most part, i want to keep the exterior relatively stock. I will probably go with a mild window tint and some rims... i don't want to draw any unneeded attention from the Police.

Second only to the track, under the hood is where i would like to make my car shine. This will probably break the bank, but i think it is worth it. I originally was on the market for an EVO MR. I saw EVO's in magazines with the show quality engines and i really wanted mine to look like that. Unfortunately, the closest new EVO MR was 3 hours away. So i went with the competition. Subaru.

To start out this project i ordered the CAI from Ultimate-Racing. Eventually, i would like to get it powder coated. Next up i will probably get a strut tower brace. The brace will improve performance and add to the "bling factor" under the hood. After that i will probably be looking at some minor things like get matching oil and radiator caps, i have always been interested in ARC products. There is an alternator/pulley cover and radiator shroud to match too. Then there is the radiator hose, overflow resevior, and catch can. A Koyo radiator would also be nice as well as a mild wire tuck.

So, here is my shopping list. It will probably change as i continue searching for parts.

I feel you with the the being bored. I do like dressing up the underhood too, I really think that it will make a difference in the look. And it does not attract the bad attention.

I want the red STI Intake to replace our ugly plastic black one

Will probably stay in the Red and anthracite theme (anthracite caue i want to get the SPT tie down and oil cap, and my next wheel will probably be dark gray assorted with the hrome strip in the back that i plan to put dark chrome) and the red because i alway loved red highlight underhood

anyway meanwhile here the hood bling of my SVT

I love my Ford Racing wire :D

Sleeper mode is the way to go, at least for me. A lite tint 30% and gun metal or all black rims. I'm all about the "GO" instead of the "SHOW". Toooo many cops in my area, gotta keep the low profile.

Sleeper FTW indeed. Cops can be an issue here too. My DSM was an attention whore, it's nice to finally have a sleeper.

Doing JDM styling wouldn't draw too much attention either. It is when you go apesh*t for body kits and annoyingly loud parts that will get you in trouble. No use in begging for it, right?

When you get the catch can, let me know. Do a DIY for the catch can. I was thinking about getting one of those too, not too sure on which one. Still need to figure out the color theme under the hood. I have the CAI from UR and it has the blue silicone hose, so don't know if I should change that to red and go red theme under the hood. I just don't want to have to change that hose out as it was a b**ch to put on. Maybe when I change the turbo inlet tube I will choose something different.

If you want to get one for cheap, go look at Home Depot. My friend spent like $20 there and made his own. It works and looks good.

Home Depot is a great place.

Re: Under The Hood "Bling"

yeah, i hear ya. Besides, the Perrin one looks alot better than anything i could make. I also like the ARC universal one. i can't decide.

do i get 2 from Perrin? one for coolant overflow, one for a catch can.
do i just get the ARC catch can? to match other ARC goodies under the hood.
or go with the Greddy catch can? to go with my BOV and get matching oil/coolant caps.

i also found this just now. Weapon-R and Greddy tanks... http://www.mimousa.com/home.asp?dir=prodsexp&sub=68
sone nice looking universal tanks... http://www.2kracing.com/index.php/cPath/34

those universal ones are looking good for the price. Coolant, Oil, and Power Steering too!
damn, too many choices!
