Hey guys,

I'm getting the windows tinted on Wednesday and wanted to double check some things...

I'm live in Maryland and I've found sites that say 35% all around but that was from a law enacted back in 95...

I've found vendors that say 50% is the legal limit and some that stick with 35% as well...

Is there anyone that can shed some more light on this?

Cheers,

~Mike

In So Cal the rears are fine up to 20%, anything less = they can pull you over (However they tend to be much more lenient here)
Front 2 = 35% (After the tint) meaning if you got 35% overlay on top of the the OEM tint, you are at about 30% or so and therefore screwed if they decide to use the tint metering device.

However, more often than not I notice they leave you alone as long as you dont do anything suspicious (cruising or driving up the canyon at night) unless of course you have limo all the way around. :)

Hey man, I live in MD too. The guy that did my windows pretty much specializes in tinting and making decals. He said anything 35 and less is illegal. That is all windows on a car. On a truck only the front 2 have to be above 35. The back ones can be as dark as you want.

i live in nevada. and we dont have tint laws here.
i got limo tint 5% all around.
and they dont care
What part of NV? I'm originally from vegas, and the state law is actually 35% in front and ANY everywhere else. They just don't really enforce it.

As for Maryland... from what I found, ZmagDnim is right. 35% is the limit all around. Also, red tint is illegal (and lame) and you can have a windshield strip up to 5" wide. Hope everything turns out nicely.
