When i first got the car about three weeks ago the clutch was really smooth when pressed in and let out. However I'm starting to notice that when i push the clutch IN its smooth and when i let it OUT it feels a little spongy (best word to describe it). Anyone else notice this? Am i nitpicking because this is a new car?? ???

Not sure...maybe it's the shifter bushings? I just bought a set from RalliTEK. I have the oppsoite problem...tonight (it was 54*F out) the car was hesitant to go into gears, and I had to force it... :-\

Sorry forget what I said, I didn't read that right. Have you checked your clutch fluid? I have read quite a few posts about people having problems with clutchs, including burning them up really quick. If you can't figure it out you might take it to the dealer.

I too have started to notice this after 6500 miles on the car. Just wondering if you ever figured it out. My clutch has developed to a point where when i'm letting it out just before the clutch starts to engage it has a spongy feel. It feels like its slowed down for a split second by something. I may have to take it in cuz i'm very picky about my car.

PS When I took mine into for the dealer to listen to, between then and the appointment date, the sound AND feelings went away also... So i gave it another hit to redline up our street and it came back presto!!

Fix it sooner than later dfude

your prolly feeleing the same thing i felt if so it was the pressure plate wearing in

it has a sprung hub and when new it felt excellent a very precise and stiff clutch but after about 3 week or so of driving you felt the clutch become spongy

its just the stock/weak pressure plate they used on the wrx

im very annoyed by it but i figure il just deal with it for now until i get out of school and i can afford a new pressure plate and clutch and have the time to do it my self
