So I got this letter in the mail via subaru saying they have developed a "modification to the Engine Control Module software logic to improve monitoring parameters within the OBDII system for the engine coolant thermostat". It's a free "update" but I'm wondering if it would jack up our reflash'd cars at all? I guess it isn't a big deal flashing back to stock, but it's kinda a pain in the ass for stage 2 folks. I should mention the top of the letter says it's only for states CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT and WA. So if you live in these states expect a letter from subaru I guess. Just wondering what everyone is planning to do.

Got the letter/email as well. Cannot hurt to have, as it is also required in some states (CA off the top of my head) for registration renewal.

If you are running a tune, make a backup of your original stock tune, flash back to stock. Then get the update. Flash back to your desired tune and create a backup of the new stock tune.

I plan on going in and getting it done in the next few weeks.

there is no way im going to revert back to stock. i have all kinds of things done, and it would take me days to just go back to stock, and then having to re install all parts. i wonder how the state (ca) knows if i get this update. i wont do it.

If it is just an ecu update, what harm is it to have the dealer perform the update?

Just have your AP or Laptop ready to flash over a tune once the process is complete?
