So all the 08+ STi, WRX, Impreza have the TPMS valve stem sensors to warn you with an amber light on the dash. Well most of us have 2 sets of wheels and tires. Our Warm weather tires usually have the TPMS sensors inside, and our winters Usually dont cause we dont care. So here are a few ways to get rid of that amber light ill do easiest to the hardest

1. Take the dash apart to the instrument panel and remove the bulb for the TPMS logo careful lots of LEDs back there
2. Take the dash apart to the istrument panel and remove the clear sheild and use a peice of electrical tape over the logo.
3. The Tacoma Pipe bomb not too sure if it will work
4. (This is what i did) If you dont have acess to a MODIS by SNAP-ON im sure u can find a shop that has one and they can Permanently DISABLE THE TPMS syetem and its light

That wasn't quite my point. Other than the legality issue, does anybody know of a technical reason why an AP couldn't disable a TPMS. COBB has stated that the AP isn't capable of it, but was wondering if that was really the case (i.e could an opensource/custom map disable it)

or is the MODIS accessing some circuit that just isn't accessible to other interfaces?

On the legality front, just about anything you do to your car is going to be illegal somewhere. I've been pulled over for having a clear license plate cover and told it was only approved for 'off-road use'. I think that disclaimer comes with just about every aftermarket piece I have. I think even my K&N drop-in panel filter might say that... And looking at the COBB AP box just now, it has that same disclaimer right on the side, so technically they are selling a device, meant to be used on the street, that is [potentially] explicitly breaking the law.

^^^turns out a stage 2 tune that disables the CEL that would alert you that cat is below efficiency range is illegal. as is replacing a functioning cat. and also, as is deleting your cars altogether.

but who's counting.
